This is a well-known issue with the 1990-1996 instrument panel. Age, heat and vibration can cause bulbs and solder joints to fail, wires to break and connectors to lose spring tension. We can restore functionality of your LCD panel in as little as one business day!
When the ignition is on, the LCD turns orange but remains blank, and the info can't be seen
The bulbs which illuminate the cluster remain dark, even with the ignition on.
Sometimes, hitting the dash or hitting a bump causes the cluster to start working properly.
Shining a flashlight on the cluster causes the information to appear.
Heat and sunlight can also cause the polarizing film on your LCD panel to fade, making the data on the LCD screen harder and harder to read, and eventually appearing blank (all orange). We have developed a process to replace the polarizing film and factory graphics on your LCD panel, again in about one business day.
The Orange background lights up when the ignition is on
The LCD can't be read as easily as it once could, or the info has faded completely
The LCD info can be seen through polarized sunglasses, or through our test strip (email email@example.com for a free test strip).
Tachometer Incorrect or Pegging 6,000 RPM
The tachometer calibration is performed by a precision analog calibration IC. Over time, vibration can cause that IC to degrade and then fail completely. The result is that the tach reading is wrong by more than a few hundred RPM, or that the tachometer pegs the 6,000 mark hard and then rockets to below 0 RPM. We have developed a replacement for the factory IC, and can fix your tachometer woes! This calibration IC also controls the calibration for the other analog gauge functions, so if another gauge is working improperly, this may be the reason.
The tachometer is wrong by more than a few hundred RPM
When the ignition is turned on, the tachometer pegs 6000RPM, then dips below 0RPM.
The calibration of other analog gauges is wrong
